Welcome to the Inquilab Study Circle.

We are a group of curious individuals who met at a protest.

We had an online kick-off and made some commitments and ground rules.

Commitments#

  • We will study history and theory critically with a focus on South Asia.
  • We are committed to a long-term perspective, this is a marathon not a sprint.
  • We will do the readings and do our own independent research via other sources (podcasts, YouTube, ChatGPT, notebookLM … whatever works) and come to the discussion group prepared with our perspective.
  • We will be rigorous in our methods. We will verify sources, references, and also be critical of methods.
  • We will be aware of biases (including our own) when we read!

Ground Rules#

  • Be Kind.
  • People come to the group from very different starting points, and life experiences. Treat people with respect irrespective of how much you have read, or know. Call people in, instead of calling them out.
  • Assume Good Faith and Call in. But do call out Bad Faith!
  • Take Space, but not too much.

Readings#

We will organise readings by theme, you can see some readings for the first theme (Caste) in the side bar.

Updates#

Communication happens on a closed Signal group and via a mailing list. This site will be updated with readings.

As we learn more about ourselves, we would like to open the study circle to a much bigger audience, but we need to learn how to walk before we run, etc.
